Bearing Spiritual Fruit

“Keep your life free from the love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you.'”

Hebrews 13:5

As July draws to a close, the tension in the air is almost like bands ready to snap. Economic uncertainties hang heavy like storm clouds over us. Families, once an unbroken circle, find themselves on opposite ends of political and social divides. The cost of living seems to rise faster than our paychecks or our peace of mind. And yet the Scripture says: “Be content.”

But how? How is contentment possible when headlines shake our confidence and bills challenge our faith?

The answer is not in the shifting sands of this world but in the unshakable truth of the finished work of Christ alive in us. When Jesus declared, “It is finished,” He gave us more than salvation from sin; He gave us power and authority to live with integrity, hope, and purpose even when the world around us is unsettled.

Spiritual fruit is not seasonal; it grows in us continually when we abide in Christ. True character isn’t only about who we are in the dark, but how we reflect God’s light to a world desperate for direction. Bearing spiritual fruit means choosing purity of heart, noble motives, and courageous obedience in the face of fear. It means letting Christ be formed in us, not just for our benefit, but for the blessing and strengthening of others.

Our new life in Christ instills a redeemed character; one shaped not by consumerism or chaos, but by God’s Word and Spirit. When we live like this, we become living proof that God hasn’t forsaken us. Our faith becomes contagious, our homes become havens, and our communities grow stronger, both heart to heart and faith to faith.

This is how we bear spiritual fruit in Christ.

This is how we build lives that last in Christ.

WONDER WORKING POWER OF LOVE

For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 8:38–39.

Behold, and just like that, February is over.  The love of God is so wonderful, as Romans 8:38-39 reminds us that nothing can separate us from the love of Christ. This truth was magnified in our study of the LORD at work through Samson in Judges 13-16, showing that His love remains steadfast despite our shortcomings. We learned that the greatest blessing is not in possessions but in God’s presence, and genuine growth, favor, and power come from walking with Him. Samson’s story warned us against chasing temporary pleasures, acting in anger, and relying on our own strength instead of surrendering to God’s will. Yet even in failure, God hears our cries and uses us for His purpose. True victory is not in our might but in yielding to Christ, who fulfilled what Samson could not, thus offering eternal redemption and inseparable love.

As we transition into the coming weeks, our focus shifts to the cross of Christ amidst the growing separation in our world. The lessons learned through the life of Samson remind us that no matter how far we fall, God remains near, calling us back to Him. His justice is perfect, His provision is abundant, and His grace is always sufficient to overcome where we are weak. Just as Samson found redemption in his final moments, we, too, can find hope and renewal in Christ. Let us press forward, rooted in the strength and heritage of one true and living God who loves us that neither life nor death, angels nor demons, present nor future, nor any power can separate us from Him. May we carry this reality in our hearts and reflect it in our lives as we fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.

Victorious Momentum 2025

Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.

1 Corinthians 15:58

January has been a month of new beginnings, spiritual awareness, and necessary adjustments for lasting wholeness. Through the messages from 2 Corinthians 5:17, 2 Peter 1:3-11, and Luke 4:1-13, we’ve been reminded that God has given us everything we need for growth, transformation, and victory. Whether embracing the new you in Christ, building upon the virtues of faith, or standing firm against life’s challenges, each message has called us to step forward with confidence, knowing that His power sustains us.

As we move into the rest of 2025, let’s carry the momentum forward. Growth in Christ requires both belief and action, and consistency will lead to lasting fruitfulness. There have been moments of challenge, moments of growth, and moments of reflection. Through it all, God has remained faithful, leading the way forward. As we move into February and beyond, be encouraged—keep pressing, keep trusting, and keep standing firm.

Let this be our momentum for 2025—victorious, and full of purpose!

A BALANCED LIFE

See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

Ephesians 5:15-16

Today, I want to share with you a personal reflection on the delicate art of balancing life. This is a topic that has been close to my heart since I began my journey as a pastor in 2015. My bi-vocational path has been a mix of challenges and blessings. In Ephesians 5:15-16, the apostle Paul urges us to be very careful how we live and walk. These words resonate deeply with me, as I have grappled with the tension between my pastoral calling and my other vocation. Being bi-vocational has presented its fair share of challenges, particularly in managing time and availability. Yet, amidst these challenges, I have discovered profound advantages. It has kept me grounded in the trenches with our congregation and community, honing my character through encounters with difficult situations and people. It has deepened my appreciation for sacred time spent in preparation for sermons, Bible studies, and special studies. Moreover, it has been instrumental in nurturing the growth of our church plant, allowing it to deepen its roots and bear more fruit in its impact.

However, these advantages can only be enjoyed with balance. It’s essential to recognize that if we do not steward our time wisely, we risk surrendering it to areas of our lives that may not align with our true calling and purpose. Just as we budget our finances, we must budget our time with equal urgency, ensuring that what is most important to us is realized and felt. I’ve found practical help in the Eisenhower matrix, a tool for prioritizing tasks based on urgency and importance. Daily journaling on urgent and essential matters, through the lens of my calling, has been instrumental in maintaining focus and clarity amidst competing demands. Life is not meant to be fragmented and compartmentalized. Despite the pressures of our culture that may suggest otherwise, we are not fundamentally different people at work, home, or church. Attempting to embody multiple personas leads to a fractured sense of self and a lack of balance. Instead, a balanced life begins at the center—a heart purposed to remain faithful to the person God has created and called us to be.

Let us, therefore, be diligent in budgeting our time, prioritizing what truly matters, delegating tasks aligned with our shared purpose with others, and eliminating time-wasters. It’s time for us to take control of our time, to reclaim what is rightfully ours as stewards of God’s gifts. May we seek God’s guidance in discerning priorities and making decisions about how to allocate our time and energy. It’s time to redeem the time, to reclaim what is rightfully ours as stewards of God’s gifts. May this be a season of renewed focus, balance, and purpose as we strive to live wisely in the days before us.

SPEAKING A BLESSING

Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.

Proverbs 22:6

As we journey through the changing seasons in March, let’s pause to reflect on the timeless concept of “The Blessing.” Growing up, my childhood was often without the steady presence of a father figure. Yet, the moments shared with my stepfather were cherished memories that illuminated my path as a young boy. Those experiences, whether simple conversations or shared activities, set the course for days filled with anticipation and excitement for the months ahead. Even in the absence of a constant father figure, both seen and unseen scars left their mark, echoing the silent yet powerful words of affirmation and pride from those who played a role in shaping my life.

When the time came for me to step into the role of a father, it was a day filled with unparalleled joy, yet tinged with the fear of the unknown. Like many men, I found myself searching for guidance, only to be met with a scarcity of resources on fatherhood. While mothers had the well-known book “What to Expect When You’re Expecting,” the landscape for fathers seemed sparse. In my moments of searching, I cried out to the Lord, feeling the weight of inadequacy and the absence of a reference point to guide me. 0But in that moment of vulnerability, I was reminded of the ultimate Father, both in the divine sense and as an adoptive father. God, in His infinite love and wisdom, serves as the perfect example of fatherhood. He showers us with His love, watches over us with care, makes His presence known in various ways, always focuses on our good, and disciplines us so that we may learn and grow through obedience.

As I embarked on the journey of fatherhood, both to a daughter and a son, I realized the similarities and differences in raising each child. However, one universal truth emerged—both my children needed to hear their father’s blessings. They needed to sense the approval and affirmation that comes with a father’s love. Recognizing this need, heaven responded in the most profound way possible by sending us a Savior in Jesus Christ. Through His sacrifice and redemption, the enemy’s destructive works aimed at undermining the role of loving parents are defeated once and for all. In Christ, we find the ultimate example of sacrificial love and the assurance that we are deeply loved and cherished by our Heavenly Father.

May we embrace our redeemed roles as instruments of blessing in our families, workplaces, and communities. Let us reflect on the profound truth of “The Blessing” and seek to impart love, affirmation, and encouragement to those around us, just as our Heavenly Father does for each of His children.

Inescapable Love

For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, 15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, 16 that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, 19 and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

Ephesians 3:14-19

February, often associated with expressions of love due to Valentine’s Day is the perfect month to explore the inescapable love of God. Last month, we journeyed through a gospel message series inspired by Ephesians 3:14-19, uncovering the profound reasons why nothing can separate us from the love of God. At the core of our faith lies the immeasurable love of God. It is a great and incomparable love that reflecting upon it becomes not just a choice but a necessity. Without it, there’s a chance of losing sight of the finished work of Christ. Ephesians 3:14-19 encourages us to pause and absorb God’s love surrounding us. God’s love knows no boundaries of demographics or social status. It transcends cultural, racial, and economic divides. Hallelujah!

In exploring the breadth of God’s love, we recognize that His heart is for all people. It’s a
love that unites us as one, reminding us that in the eyes of God, we are all cherished and valued. The length of God’s love is displayed in His faithfulness. Despite our unfaithfulness, God remains committed to His people. This symbolic marriage between God and His often-unfaithful bride mirrors His enduring love, reminding us that His commitment goes beyond our shortcomings. The depth of God’s love is not distant; it descends into the pits of life where we may find ourselves. It goes beyond surface-level affection, reaching into the depths of our hearts and souls. In times of struggle, God’s love is a constant presence, ready to lift us from the depths and provide restoration. The height of God’s love elevates us above life’s challenges, offering a perspective rooted in hope. As we fix our gaze upon our risen Savior, Jesus Christ, we find strength to face the present and the future. This elevated divine perspective allows us to confidently navigate life’s complexities in the redeeming power of God’s love. As we advance forward and upward in March, may we have the same passion for Christ as he did for us; reflecting on Ephesians 3:14-19, we allow the inescapable love of God to shape our understanding of His character.

May we be grounded in the immeasurable, boundless, enduring, and uplifting love
that defines our new relationship with the Creator.

Embracing Victorious Momentum

He who calls you is faithful; he will surely do it.

1 Thessalonians 5:24

Late blog post warning. As we launch headfirst into the new year, the pace of life has quickened, leaving many of us breathless and struggling to keep up. Amid this whirlwind, we must pause, reflect, and consider how to set the stage for a victorious year ahead. Reflecting upon 1 Thessalonians 5:24, I’ve realized that sometimes, the greatest obstacle to our success can be our own selves. In this blog post, let’s explore some keys to starting right and maintaining a victorious momentum throughout the year.

First, it is essential to remember that regardless of how spiritually mature we may consider ourselves, approaching God with childlike faith is a profound simplicity. The innocence, trust, and belief that characterize a child’s prayer can be a powerful reminder of the humility and sincerity with which we should approach our Creator. In the hustle and bustle of life, taking a moment to reconnect with this childlike faith can help us find clarity, peace, and strength.

Second, in our busy lives, it’s easy to lose a sense of the rhythm that aligns with God’s heartbeat. Establishing a routine that prioritizes prayer, reflection on the word of God, and intentional time with God allows us to synchronize our lives with His divine plan. This intentional alignment sets the foundation for a year marked by purpose, fulfillment, and a deep connection with the One who orchestrates it all.

Additionally, the Holy Spirit is a dynamic force that empowers us to overcome obstacles and live a life of victory. To maintain momentum, we must be attuned to the promptings and guidance of the Holy Spirit. Seeking His wisdom in decision-making, relying on His strength in times of weakness, and allowing His life-changing power to work in our lives will propel us forward, even in the face of challenges.

Lastly, life is unpredictable, and storms will inevitably come our way. However, our response to these challenges defines our journey. Remaining resilient and flexible, anchored in our identity in Christ, enables us to navigate the storms without compromising our faith. In the face of adversity, we can stand firm, knowing that our foundation is secure in Him. As we navigate the fast-paced start of the year, let’s intentionally cultivate an atmosphere of victorious momentum. Embracing childlike faith, syncing our rhythm of life with God’s heartbeat, relying on the power of the Holy Spirit, and staying resilient in Christ will position us to start the year right and finish well. May this be a year marked by spiritual growth, anchored in faith, and the victorious momentum that comes from walking hand in hand with our great God.

The Message of Christmas: When Our Hearts Are Ready to Listen

All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: ‘The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel’ (which means ‘God with us’).

Matthew 1:22-23

As December unfolds and the world begins to shimmer with festive lights, the Christmas season invites us to ponder the profound message it carries. While the holiday season typically brings to mind joyous festivities, gatherings with friends and family, and the exchange of gifts, this year, let’s take a moment to go deeper into the true essence of Christmas. Reflecting on Matthew 1:22-23, we find a message that speaks directly to the depths of our souls, a message that often resonates most powerfully when our hearts are finally ready to listen – a message of hope, peace, joy, and an unparalleled love from the highest heaven. We encounter the prophecy of Christ’s birth and these words, centuries old, echo across time and space, carrying a significance that transcends the limits of our earthly existence. The birth of Jesus Christ is not merely a historical event; it is a divine intervention, a manifestation of God’s love breaking through the barriers of human understanding.

In our world often plagued by suffering and pain, the message of Christmas becomes a beacon of hope. It reminds us that even in our darkest moments, when our hearts are burdened and weary, there is a source of light that can dispel the shadows. The arrival of Christ symbolizes the dawn of a new era, offering hope to a world in desperate need of it. The Prince of Peace, as foretold in Isaiah 9:6, comes not to offer a fleeting peace, but a peace that surpasses all understanding. The wars in Ukraine and Israel are reminders that our world is torn by conflict, uncertainty, and chaos, the message of Christmas whispers to our souls that true peace is found in the presence of the One who came to reconcile us with God. Christmas joy is not contingent upon external circumstances; it is an unspeakable joy that flows from the knowledge of God’s love made real to us in the form of a baby. The celebration of Christ’s birth invites us to experience a joy that transcends the challenges and tribulations of life. At the heart of the Christmas message is a love so profound that Christ took on the fragile form of a newborn. This divine love reaches down to the depths of our humanity, breaking the chains that bind us to earthly perceptions and communicating a love that is unconditional, sacrificial, and everlasting.

As we navigate the celebrations of this season with all its twinkling lights, joyous songs, and cherished traditions, let us not lose sight of the true message of Christmas. The birth of Christ is a reminder that God’s love is not a distant concept but a true reality. May this Christmas season be a time of renewed hope, genuine peace, unspeakable joy, and profound experiences of the love that has come down from the highest heaven to be with us.

CONQUERING SELF – Faith in Action

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Hebrews 11:1

In a world filled with doubt, uncertainty, and skepticism, the concept of faith can seem hard to grasp. Though not exhaustively Hebrews 11:1 does define faith for us. Faith is not blind; it is built on a solid foundation of hope in Christ Jesus and trust in the promises of God. But how do we put this faith into action?

Growing up in a home where discipline was valued, I learned the importance of having a disciplined mind. It was not just about obeying rules but later in life I learned that it is about training our thoughts to align with the truth of God’s word. The mind is a battleground where doubt and fear can creep in, trying to shake our faith. We must renew our minds daily through prayer, meditation, and the study of Scripture. When our minds are aligned with God’s truth, we find evidence of His presence and faithfulness in all aspect of our lives.

Faith is not merely an intellectual exercise; it is also a matter of the heart. Our hearts must be receptive to the promises of God, allowing His love and grace to fill us. It’s in our hearts that the seeds of faith are sown, and they grow into the substance of things hoped for. Faith isn’t just about acknowledging God’s existence; it’s about believing in His goodness, His love, and His faithfulness. This deep connection with God transforms our faith from theory into a brighter reality.

Faith is not meant to be a private affair; it’s a powerful gift of God that should motivates us, our families, and households. Just as my upbringing stressed discipline, it also emphasized the importance of faith and a life rooted in redeemed and eternal values. When we get our houses right, we create an environment where faith can thrive. We must lead by example, demonstrating the reality of God’s presence, His faithfulness, and His trustworthiness in our everyday lives.

By getting our minds right, our hearts right, and our houses right, we manifest faith in action. We live out the reality of our risen Savior and Lord in our lives, confident in His existence, standing on His promises, and steadfast in His love. So, let us continue to focus, feed, and share our faith, knowing that God is real, and His word is faithful and trustworthy, making our lives a testament to His goodness and grace.

COURAGEOUS LEADERSHIP – Leading from the Heart

For the Son of Man did not come to be served but to service and give his life as a ransom for many.

Mark 10:45

As October approaches, it’s the perfect time to explore a subject that embodies the essence of leadership in its truest form—courageous leadership. In a world filled with challenges and uncertainties, courageous leaders stand out, ready to serve others possessing a unique blend of traits that set them apart.

They exhibit unwavering determination, resilience, and an ability to inspire and motivate others. They lead by example, show empathy and compassion, and are unafraid to face adversity head-on. Known for managing one’s family well is often seen as a prerequisite for effective leadership. It’s a microcosm of leadership where love, discipline, and guidance are essential. Courageous leaders prioritize their families, creating a stable and nurturing environment. Mental strength is crucial in a world filled with information and constant change. Courageous leaders are intellectually curious, adaptable, and committed to lifelong learning. They make informed decisions and are not afraid to challenge the status quo. Integrity is the cornerstone of courageous leadership. A strong sense of ethics and principles guides leaders with moral integrity. They make ethical choices even when difficult and ensure their actions align with their values. Courageous leaders excel in interpersonal relationships. They are skilled communicators, active listeners, and adept at building strong, diverse teams. They recognize the importance of collaboration and diversity in achieving success. Perhaps the most critical qualification for courageous leadership is spiritual maturity. Leaders who walk in faith and stay in rhythm with the Holy Spirit find the wisdom and discernment needed to navigate complex challenges. They understand that Holy Spirit-led leadership is not about self-promotion but serving others with a servant’s heart.

Reflecting on Mark 10:45, ” we find the ultimate example of courageous leadership. Jesus, the ultimate leader, demonstrated humility, sacrifice, and unwavering dedication to serving others. As aspiring courageous leaders, we are called to follow in His footsteps. We must be willing to serve, even when inconvenient or uncomfortable. We should seek godly wisdom in all our decisions and rely on the guidance of the Holy Spirit to navigate the complexities of leadership. Courageous leadership is not about seeking power or recognition but advancing the Kingdom of God. It’s about making a positive impact on the lives of others, leaving a lasting legacy of love, compassion, and service connecting generations. In this month of October, let us celebrate courageous leaders and commit ourselves to grow in the qualities of courageous leadership.
